Makes moving to Netherlands less stressful with these steps

Moving can be one of the most stressful and overwhelming experiences in life. Packing all your belongings, organizing a moving truck and moving your entire life from one house to another can be quite overwhelming. However, the good news is that there are some steps you can take to make the process less stressful, namely by creating a good verhuisplanning, or a plan of action for moving, as we say in Dutch.

Step 1: Make a list of tasks

Start by making a list of everything that needs to be done during the move. This includes both the big tasks, such as renting a moving truck and arranging storage, and the smaller tasks, such as cleaning out the basement and selling unwanted items. Next, try to put the tasks in chronological order so you know which tasks are priorities and when they need to be completed.

Step 2: Create a schedule

Now that you have a list of all the tasks that need to be completed, it's time to make a schedule. Divide the tasks among the time you have before you move and make a schedule that tells you when each task must be completed. Try to take into account other obligations you have, such as work or school, and plan it all into 1 schedule.

Step 3: Start on time

One of the most important tips for a stress-free move is to start on time. Try to start planning and completing tasks at least a few months in advance. This way you will have enough time to do everything at a leisurely pace and you won't have to rush last minute.

Step 4: Keep a folder

Keep all important documents, such as leases, contracts with moving companies and other important papers in a folder. This ensures that you have everything on hand when you need it and helps you stay organized during the move.

Step 5: Label your boxes

A good way to reduce stress during the move is to label all your boxes with their contents and the room they are to go to. This way, you know exactly where everything should go and you won't have to search endlessly for certain items.

Step 6: Don't forget to relax

Finally, it is important to remember to relax from time to time during the moving process. It can be easy to get completely absorbed in the to-do list and stress of the move, but it is important to take a break from time to time and relax. For example, go for a walk or enjoy a relaxing bath.

By following these simple tips and making good moving plans, you can reduce the stress and chaos of a move and ensure that it goes smoothly.
