Complete Pride Amsterdam, including Canal Parade, planned this year

The 2022 edition of Pride Amsterdam will again be the full nine-day event, including the Canal Parade, the organizers announced on Friday. The positive outlook around the coronavirus makes the Pride Amsterdam Foundation hopeful that this year will be extra special.

"Despite all the limitations, we made the most of Pride Amsterdam over the past two years. From TV broadcasts and small gatherings to the biggest Pride Walk in years," Pride Amsterdam Foundation director Lucien Spee de Castillo Ruiz said in a press release. "But that we missed the boat parade and everything around is a fact. That is why I am thrilled that we received permission to start the permit process for a complete Pride week."

"We are now making an organization catch-up sprint and, together with all partners, we will ensure that the 25th edition of the Canal Parade will be unforgettable," he said.

The fact that the Canal Parade couldn't happen due to the pandemic these past two years makes 2022 extra special. This year will be the 25th Canal Parade, the 10th Pride Walk and the 5th Pride Park.

Pride Amsterdam will be from July 30 to Aug. 7, with the boat parade on Saturday, Aug. 6.
