Duck slaughterhouse accuses animal activists in truck arson

Five trucks went up in flames on Fokko Kortlanglaan in Ermelo during the early hours of Thursday morning. The trucks were parked behind duck slaughterhouse Tomassen Duck-To. Director Gertjan Tomassen blames the arson on animal activists, Omroep Gelderland reports.

Tomassen said that he saw the animal activists start the fire with jerry cans on surveillance camera footage. He also said that a petrol bomb was placed in the factory, but that it did not go off, according to the broadcaster.

The police are investigating the fire. A lot of smoke was released by the fire and there were also some explosions. This was caused by the crates of plastic in the trailers.

In 2018 Animal Rights published a video showing ducks being mistreated at Tomassen Duck-To. Tomassen denied all accusations against his company at the time.
