Soldier, 22, dies in parachuting accident during training

A 22-year-old soldier was killed in an accident during a parachute jump at the airport in Teuge on Tuesday. The accident happened during training. Bystanders saw the soldier spin in the air, Omroep Gelderland reports.

According to the broadcaster, it seemed as if the victim was unable to control the parachute properly. How the accident happened is not yet clear. The Koninklijke Marechaussee, a policing force that works as part of the Dutch military, is investigating under the leadership of the Public Prosecution Service.

The Marechaussee released no information about the victim's identity except their age.
