Dutch now watch more video-on-demand than TV
People in the Netherlands are watching more video-on-demand than regular television, according to a study by research agency Multiscope. This is the first time that time spent on video streaming services surpassed time spent watching broadcast television in the Netherlands, NU.nl reports.
The researchers found that 27 percent of the time Dutch spend watching videos, is spent on streaming services. 24 percent is spent watching linear television. On average, people in the Netherlands spend 139 minutes per day watching video-on-demand, and 118 minutes watching regular television. Netflix and YouTube are the main video-on-demand services used in the Netherlands.
There is a clear distinction between generations when it comes to watching video, according to the researchers. People over 50 still watch more linear television, while younger people watch more video-on-demand.
