Amstelveen gym closed after explosion

Gym3 in Amstelveen was closed by order of mayor Bas Eenhoorn after an explosive was detonated in front of the gym last week. The gym will remain closed pending the police investigation into the explosion, Het Parool reports.

According to the owners of Gym3, this will be for one month at the most. On Facebook they promise to do everything they can to arrange temporary alternatives for all their members.

An explosive went off at the gym on Zetterij during the early hours of January 25th. No one was present in the building at the time and no one was injured. The explosive, believed to be a grenade, did significant damage to the front of the building.

According to mayor Eenhoor, the chances of repetition can not be ruled out. The gym will therefore close until the police determine whether or not it is safe for it to open.
