NL Alerts to be shown on public transit departure boards
From December 3rd all NL Alert messages will also be displayed on the departure boards in public transport. On that day the government will also send a test message, NOS reports.
Posting alerts on public transport boards is in line with NL Alert's aim to reach as many people as possible. NL Alerts are used to warn the public of a disaster, for example.
The previous NL Alert test message was sent in June this year. That message was received by over 10 million people aged 12 years and older. As the message was also forwarded by many people, it eventually reached 11.3 million people, according to NL Alert.
Most cellphones are automatically set to receive NL Alerts, but with some the user has to do it. Instructions on how to set your phone to receive NL Alerts can be found here.
