Over €10,000 raised for cyclist killed by drunk driver

A crowdfunding action was launched to raise money to send the body of a 30-year-old cyclist killed by a drunk driver in Goes on Sunday back home to Macedonia. The target of 10 thousand euros was reached within hours, RTL Niuews reports.

Miki and 33-year-old Alice were only back in the Netherlands for two weeks when they were killed by a drunk driver on Sunday. They were planning to build their lives together in Zeeland, according to the broadcaster. Alice's family launched the fundraiser to help Miki's family pay for his repatriation. They arrived in the Netherlands on Monday and would like to take their son back to Macedonia to be buried there.

"I can not understand what happened", Alice's sister Sara said to Editie NL on Monday. "My sister and Miki had been to a friend's party on Saturday, to celebrate that they were finally in the Netherlands." The couple lived together in Malta for the past two years. "They were in the Netherlands to arrange everything to live here for good."

The 19-year-old motorist who caused the accident was arrested. A breathalyzer test showed that he was far over the limit.
