Culemborg woman killed in a crime

A woman found dead in a Culemborg apartment on Monday morning, was killed in a violent crime, the police confirmed. A 31-year-old man from Culemborg was arrested. He was the person who told the police where the woman was to be found, De Gelderlander reports.

At this stage nothing further is known about the identity of the victim or the circumstances of her death. The police were in the home on Herenstraat investigating all day on Monday.

The home is divided into apartments. A couple lives in the upper apartment, where the woman was found. The male resident was the man who was arrested, a local resident said to the newspaper. She saw him being cuffed and taken away. She describes the man as nice. "Young residents in the street are often busy with themselves. He always says hello. I once loaned him my car to transport a couch." She does not know what happened, and hopes that his arrest was a mistake.

A neighbor told De Gelderlander that he was woken by a commotion in the neighbors apartment at around 2:00 a.m. "It sounded like chairs were falling. But I don't know if this had anything to do with it", he said.
