Delft student assoc. expels member for filming women in the bathroom

Virgiel, the Catholic student association in Delft, canceled the membership of a student after he was caught recording women in the association's bathroom with a hidden camera. The member hid the camera in a coffee cup that was placed on the toilet, the association said in a statement, NU.nl reports.

At least three people were filmed by this camera. The association's board launched an investigation immediately after the camera was found. The investigation led to the student as the suspected perpetrator. When he was confronted by the findings, he confessed and expressed regret, according to the association.

The association calls the incident "totally unacceptable". The man's membership to the association was canceled with immediate effect. The three women who were filmed will decide whether or not to take legal steps against the man.

TU Delft was informed of the incident. According to NOS, the university praised the transparent way in which Virgiel dealt with this situation.
