Groningen police shoot knife waving man in leg

The police shot a man with a knife in the leg on Helsinkistraat in Groningen during the early hours of Wednesday morning. According to the police, the man could not be reasoned with, NOS reports.

Responding officers first fired a warning shot. When the man still did not follow police instructions, he was shot in the leg. The man was arrested and taken to hospital for treatment.

The police are still investigating exactly who the man is and why he was wandering the streets with a knife.
