Free a Girl raises €500,000 against child prostitution

Foundation Free a Girl raised over 500 thousand euros in a week of actions to draw attention to child prostitution world wide. The entire amount will go towards removing girls from child prostitution, RTL Nieuws reports.

Over the past week, more than 300 Dutch people participated in the 'Lock me Up - Free a Girl' campaign. Spread over 33 different locations in the Netherlands and Belgium, the Dutch celebrities were locked up in a booth for 12 hours. Participants included Giel Beelen, Thomas Berge, Belle Perez and John Ewbank.

According to Free a Girl, two million girls are forced into prostitution worldwide.

Last year Free a Girl drew attention to child prostitution with a 'peep show' in Amsterdam. Instead of seeing a naked woman, visitors saw a young girl dressed in leopard print and huddled on a bed with arms folded. While a video played in which former sex slaves told their stories.
