Passenger sees Arriva bus driver smoking a joint
A passenger saw an Arriva bus driver smoking a joint shortly before driving his bus from Tilburg station on Sunday evening. Passenger Rory Jonkergouw reported this to Arriva. The company takes the incident seriously and is investigating what happened, NOS reports.
Jonkergouw told Omroep Brabant that the bus driver quickly turned away when he saw him coming. "But there is no doubt about it." According to him, the bus driver took a lot of risks. "He drove over two lanes at once and very fast around turns. Then he knocked down several pylons that were on the road for work."
Jonkergouw did not feel safe and got off the bus as quickly as possible. He reported the incident to Arriva on Twitter. "Dear Arriva, are drivers allowed to drive under the influence? The one of bus 5 (departure 22:44 station Tilburg) smoked a joint before the ride and then hit some pylons along the way. I hope your travelers survived", he wrote.
Arriva is discussing the incident with the driver. "Safety comes first and driving under the influence is absolutely not allowed. If this is indeed what happened, then it is obviously unacceptable and appropriate measures will follow", the company said, according to NOS.
