Brabant mayor resuscitates man at King's Day festivities
Mayor Hanne van Aart of the Noord-Brabant village of Loon op Zand resuscitated a man during the village's King's Day festivities on Friday morning. The traffic controller fell unconscious, and Van Aart provided first aid until emergency services arrived, AD reports.
The man regained consciousness and was rushed to the hospital.
The incident happened on the driveway of Het Witte Kasteel on Kasteellaan, where the King's Day festivities are taking place. The mayor was at Het Witte Kasteel to open the festivities at 10:00 a.m. Because the Van Aart first helped the unwell man, she only opened the festivities later.
Van Aart, 33, was appointed mayor of Loon op Zand last year. She is the youngest mayor of the Netherlands.
