Amsterdam cop among detainees in Prague waiter assault
One of seven Dutch men arrested in Prague over the weekend for assaulting a waiter, is a police officer from Amsterdam. He is one of two suspects that have since been released from custody, the police confirmed to RTL Nieuws.
The Dutch men got into a fight with the waiter after he told them they could not drink alcohol they brought themselves on a terrace in Prague. The waiter was badly beaten and was hospitalized with a broken jaw, according to RTL.
The police told the broadcaster that the Amsterdam cop likely played a de-escalating role during the brawl. That can also be seen on security camera footage of the assault, the police said. The Dutch police are in contact with the police in Prague, who are investigating the case. The Amsterdam officer was released from custody and is now back at work in the Dutch capital.
The Telegraaf reports that the Amsterdam cop works in the Amsterdam police's High Impact Crime team - a team that investigates serious crimes like robberies. The police would not confirm that to RTL.
According to newspaper AD, the Dutch men were in Prague for a bachelor party.
