Large fire in Scheveningen beach restaurant

A large fire is raging in beach tent restaurant Blue Lagoon on the boulevard in Scheveningen. No one was injured.

The fire was discovered around 5:45 a.m. on Thursday, according to De Scheveninger. The fire was under control around 7:05 a.m., but firefighters are still working on extinguishing it, the fire department said on Twitter.

Due to the wood that forms part of the beach tent's structure, the fire spread very quickly. The fire brigade responded with a "considerable number of vehicles", a spokesperson said to ANP. The restaurant was "almost completely on fire" when the brigade arrived.

Adjacent beach tents are being protected by the fire brigade.
