Dry, mild weather expected for Netherlands' Pakjesavond

Everyone celebrating Pakjesavond in the Netherlands this evening, can look forward to not doing so in the rain, according to Weeronline. This evening is expected to be cloudy, but dry with mild temperatures ranging between 6 and 8 degrees Celsius.

The Netherlands celebrates Pakjesavond on the evening of December 5th. Tonight many Dutch children will excitedly listen for a knock at the door, or a thump in the attic, and run to find that Sinterklaas left a sack full of gifts for them.

Last year's Pakjesavond was very cold, with temperatures ranging between 2 and 4 degrees and large parts of the country being covered in frost.

Rush hour on Pakjesavond is always busier than usual, and motorists should take that into account to make sure they don't arrive late for the Sinterklaas celebrations tonight, Weeronline advises.

Wednesday and Thursday will also have mild weather for this time of year, with afternoon temperatures around 9 degrees. From Thursday there will be some showers, and strong winds in the coastal provinces. This weekend will be cold, with afternoon temperatures between 2 and 5 degrees expected for Sunday. The ambient temperatures may even drop below freezing. Rain, hail, and even some snow can be expected.
