Confidence in the future: new Dutch government's motto

"Confidence in the future" is the motto of Prime Minister Mark Rutte's new government, the Rutte III cabinet, RTL Nieuws reports. The motto will be officially announced when the government agreement is presented. The expectation is that this will happen on Tuesday.

According to the broadcaster, giving a motto to a government agreement is something that's been done for the past 15 years or so. In practice, the motto doesn't really say much, political reporter Frits Wester said to RTL. "The motto for the Balkenende I cabinet was: 'Working on trust, a matter of action'. That government was already collapsed three months later."

The Rutte II cabinet's motto is "Building bridges".
