Missing woman found dead in Vlaardingen; suspect arrested
A 31-year-old man from Schiedam was arrested following the discovery of a woman's body in a watery ditch in Vlaardingen on Friday morning. The police started looking for the woman after she was reported missing, the Telegraaf reports. Whether the woman was murdered, is still unclear.
The body was found in a watery ditch next to the parking lot of restaurant Paviljoen de Krabbeplas, according to newspaper AD. The owner of the restaurant told the newspaper that police officers asked him for his surveillance camera footage around 7:10 a.m. on Friday. The footage shows police officers searching the Krabbeplas recreational area from around 6:15 a.m.
The police decided to search the recreational area based on a "number of assumptions", a spokesperson said to the Telegraaf. The identity of the victim was not announced. Usually when personal details of a victim are withheld, it's because the police still have to inform his or her family.
