Scooter rider caught with €100,000 in lunch bag

The Rotterdam police arrested a 26-year-old scooter rider last week after finding several cellphones and over 100 thousand euros in cash on his person. The man could not explain why he had so much money on him, AD reports.

The police pulled the scooter over for a routine check on Mijnsherenplein. The man could not identify himself. The police found several cellphones on his person and noticed that he had a bag clutched between his legs. He told the officers that the bag had his lunch in it. But when they checked, the officers found over 100 thousand euros in bank notes in the bag.

As the scooter rider could give no plausible explanation for this, he was arrested. The phones and money was confiscated.

The man was questioned and released, without the money. He will have to explain himself in court at a later date.
