Woman crashes car into young people in Drenthe town; three hurt

A 21-year-old woman crashed her car into a group of young people on Doemsdijk in Wachtum, Drenthe during the early hours of Sunday morning, shortly after a fight between two groups of young people. Three people were injured. The woman was arrested, the police said in a statement on Sunday.

The reason for the fight is unclear, according to the police.

Police officers responded to reports of the fight. While the officers were taking statements from young people at the scene, the 21-year-old woman walked away from the group. She got into her car and crashed it into the group.

Three people were injured - a 17-year-old boy from Coevorden, an 18-year-old young man from Hardenberg and a 22-year-old woman from Schoonebeek. The two boys lost consciousness for a short time after being hit. All three were examined and treated by paramedics at the scene.

The driver, from the town of Erica, was arrested and taken to a police station for questioning.
