Overnight shootings in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht leave several wounded

Three people were injured in four shootings in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht on Wednesday night and during the early hours of Thursday morning. None of the victims sustained life threatening injuries.

The Rotterdam shooting happened around 7:00 p.m. on Katendrechtse Lagedijk. Two men, aged 25 and 22, were injured in a drive-by shooting. The police discovered one injured man on Eksterstraat after responding to reports of a shooting. He was taken to hospital. The second victim managed to get himself to a hospital and later reported to the police. A third man reported that his car was hit by a flying bullet. The police are investigating.

In Amsterdam a man was wounded in a shooting on Lange Leidsedwarsstraat early on Thursday morning, ANP reports. He was conscious and able to talk to responding officers when they arrived at the scene. The victim was taken to the hospital. So far no information is available about a possible motive.

There were two shootings in Utrecht just after midnight, according to AD. The shootings happened on Van Tuyllkade and Edisonstraat, both in the Zuilen neighborhood. As far as is known, no one was injured. The police are investigating whether the shootings are related. Some time later three cars were found burning near Waarder, at the carpool area next to the A12. The police are also looking into whether this is connected to the shootings.
