Resident released from custody after hitting armed robber with van

Arnhem man Albert K. was released from custody on Friday afternoon, his lawyer said to the Gelderlander. K. is suspected of hitting an armed robber with a delivery van, killing him, after he tried to rob K.'s home last week. '

K. is still a suspect, but does not have to await his trial in custody. "Albert was thrilled when I told him this news", the lawyer said to the Gelderlander. "This afternoon he can be with his family."

On Thursday evening last week, K. hit 47-year-old John Appels with a delivery van after Appels tried to rob K. and his girlfriend at gun point. Several shots were fired. While running away, K. and his girlfriend got into a delivery van, the driver of which fled when he heard shots. They saw the robber in front of them and hit him with the van. The robber died on the spot.
