Bus driver attacked with corrosive liquid now back behind the wheel
An Eindhoven bus driver who had a corrosive liquid thrown in his face while on duty late in January, is doing well and is back at work, his employer said to Omroep Brabant. "He was home for a while, but is back at work now. He sustained no permanent injury", the employer said to the broadcaster.
The man was attacked on Friday, January 27th, at the Nicolaistraat bus stop. Three men got onto the bus, threw the corrosive substance in the bus driver's face and ran off. The bus driver sustained injuries to his eyes, but will fully recover. The suspects are still at large.
The bus company handed the surveillance camera footage of the incident over to the police.
A police spokesperson told Omroep Brabant that the perpetrators may have used a fire extinguisher in the attack. The police think that this may have been a prank and that the perpetrators did not stop to consider the consequences.
The police call on witnesses or anyone else with information about the perpetrators to come forward.
