Community service demanded for cashier who took €250k from supermarket
The Public Prosecutor demanded 200 hours of community service against 48-year-old Ria B. from Vaasen in court on Monday. She is suspected of stealing some 254 thousand euros from a Plus supermarket in Heerde over a period of five years while she worked there as a cashier, AD reports.
In court it was also revealed that the Prosecutor is only holding B. responsible for stealing 45 thousand euros. For the rest of the amount there is not enough evidence to prove that it was her beyond a shadow of a doubt. A total amount of 254 thousand was stolen, but someone else may have taken that money.
The Prosecutor wants Ria B. to be sentenced to 200 hours of community service. He demanded 150 hours against B.'s partner Henry. The Prosecutor believes it proven that Henry knew B. was stealing money and that he used the money to buy expensive items and drugs.
Ria, who has no further criminal record, today admitted that she took money "several times" between 2009 and 2013. She only admitted to 45 thousand euros. She took the money as it was moved from the safe to the tills, hid it in her home and later took it to the bank. "There was no real reason for it", she said.
