Inmate commits suicide in Nieuwegein prison

An inmate committed suicide in the prison in Nieuwegein on Monday, the Ministry of Security and Justice confirmed. The Ministry is investigating how the prisoner managed to take his own life, RTV Utrecht reports.

So far no information was released regarding the prisoner's identity or how he committed suicide.

In the autumn of 2014 another prisoner committed suicide in the penitentiary institution, and in the summer 2013 one was stabbed to death.
