Family of murdered teen stunned by acquittal
The family of murdered 15-year-old Nicole van den Hurk is absolutely stunned that suspect Jos de G. was acquitted of killing her. De G. was found guilty of raping the gilr in 1995 and sentenced to five years in prison. Nicole's father Ad van den Hurk called the ruling a "huge disappointment" in an interview with the Telegraaf.
"It is now determiined that Jos de G. raped Nicole. But what the hell happened to her after that? Was she raped again? Who killed her? I am left with so many question marks", he said to the newspaper.
Nicole van den Hurk disappeared in October 1995 while traveling from her grandmother's house to her part time job in a shopping center in Eindhoven. Her body was found about six weeks later in the woods between Mierlo and Lierop. She had been raped and murdered. De G. was arrested in January 2014 after new technology matched one of the DNA traces found on the girl's body to him.
Ad van den Hurk is convinced De G. is his daughter's kiler. He hopes that the "law will ultimately prevail" and that the Prosecutor will appeal.
