Dutch defense fight off thousands of daily cyberattacks

Defense company Thales deals with over 100 thousand cyber attacs a dy on various fronts ranging from computers on their network to employees' personal phones, CEO Gerben Edelijn said to BNR.

The Defense department is a popular target of cyber attacks, especially for Russian and Chinese hackers. In April military intelligence service MIVD revealed that there is an increasing threat of cyber espionage aimed at Defense. General intelligence service AIVD added that terrorist groups like ISIS are getting more and more professional with their cyber attacks.

"Therefore we monitor our entire network 24/7", Edelijn said. For Thales employees this means extra security on their phones and not using standard email programs.
