Another Amsterdam coffeeshop closed down after drive-by shooting

Coffeeshop Green Place in Amsterdam was closed down indefinitely by Amsterdam mayor Eberhard van der Laan on Tuesday, the owner said to AT5. Earlier on Tuesday the coffeeshop was the target of a drive-by shooting. The gunman drove up on a grey scooter, opened fire on the coffeeshop and then drove off again. No one was injured. The motive behind the shooting is unclear. The police are investigating. This is not the first drive-by shooting at an Amsterdam coffeeshop. Three weeks ago the Mayor also closed down coffeeshop DNA on Achillesstraat after the second shooting at the business this year. In May multiple shots were fired at coffeeshop Jabba the Hutt in Amsterdam-Zuid. De Kroon in Amsterdam-Zuid was shot at in January and The Power on Sarphatistraat was targeted in February. Mayor Eberhard van der Laan decided to shut them down indefinitely. In November last year coffeeshops on Krugerstraat and Gerard Dousraat were the targets of drive-by shootings.
