Deputy PM postponing decision on staying in politics to Oct.

Deputy Prime Minister Lodewijk Asscher will only make a decision on whether or not he will stay in politics after next year's elections in October, he said in an interview with NU.nl on Friday. "It may be in or outside politics", he said. "Ultimately the question is what I want to work for and where I can be most significant." He would not comment on the role of his family or his party, PvdA, in his decision. "There you have to philosophize about balancing. I want to say nothing about it before October." Whether or not Asscher will run for PvdA leadership also depends on whether or not he will remain in politics at all.
