Over 110-kilo heroin find in western Amsterdam neighborhood; Three men in custody
Customs and police officers discovered 110 kilograms of cocaine while checking the cargo of an Iranian truck in Amsterdam's Westelijk Havengebied on July 28th, the investigative department for the Tax Authorities FIOD announced. Three men were arrested.
The truck was transporting paint and putty products from Iran, which were to be delivered to a company in the Amsterdam neighborhood where the truck was searched. Using a customs scanner borrowed from Schiphol Airport and a sniffer dog, the heroin was discovered.
A 57-year-old man with no fixed abode, a 49-year-old man from Apeldoorn and a 25-year-old man from Leiden were arrested. The cargo was confiscated and destroyed.
The case was handed over to FIOD, which launched a criminal investigation headed by the District Prosecutor Amsterdam.
