Financial irregularities investigated at Eindhoven Airbase
The Ministry of Defense launched an investigation into possible "financial integrity violations" at Eindhoven Air Base, commander of the base Colonel Elanor Boekholt-O'Sullivan announced in a statement. The staff were informed about the investigation on Wednesday, ANP reports.
"If the reports are correct, it involves serious irregularities, therefor it is of utmost importance that we investigate this carefully", Boekholt-O'Sullivan said. "We now investigate the facts. On the basis of the facts the next steps will be determined."
An internal investigation is currently ongoing. Should this reveal evidence of fraud, charges will be pressed with the Koninklijke Marechaussee - a policing force that works as part of the military.
A spokesperson would not comment on the exact nature of the irregularities in the interest of the investigation. According to the news wire, it reportedly involves more than one person.
