Dutch PM Rutte: Nigel Farage thinks Brexit “is a game”
Prime Minister Mark Rutte believes it is scandalous that Nigel Farage has resigned from his function as the leader of the Eurosceptic British party UKIP. The Dutch leader lambasted Farage for his role in convincing the UK public to cast votes supporting an exit from the European Union, and then promptly resigning after the ballots were tallied. “This man thinks it was all a big game, as if the fate of 65 million people isn’t at stake, I find this to be terrible”, declared Mark Rutte The economy and the political system have failed, according to Mark Rutte. Farage made his resignation public on Monday. Another Brexit figurehead, former London mayor Boris Johnson, stated that he was not suitable to take over his conservative party's leadership and become prime minister after David Cameron also stepped down. Nigel Farage was one of the big winners of the Brexit referendum. “I have done my job”, said Farage to justify his departure. “I have never been a career-seeking politician, and i never wanted to be one. My goal was to get Great Britain out of the European Union. I achieved this. This is why I feel like it’s the right time for me to resign as leader of UKIP.
