Teenager arrested in toy store, gas station robbery

A 14-year-old boy from Rotterdam was arrested on Wednesday in connection with two robberies - one in a toy store in Vlaardingen and another at a gas station in Rozenburg. According to the police, he was arrested thanks to tips received after Opsopring Verzocht paid attention to the case in Tuesday's broadcast. The first robbery happened on April 30th. A young robber ran into a Bart Smit toy store, threatened the cashier with a large knife, grabbed money from the cash register and ran out of the store again. Police investigation showed that the robber and another boy was in the store earlier. And witnesses saw two boys at the store shortly before the robbery. The other suspect, a 13-year-old from Schiedam, and his mother reported to the police station in Schiedam on Wednesday. The second robbery happened at a gas station on Tienmorgenseweg in Rozenburg at around 5:00 p.m. on June 5th. Here too a boy threatened an employee with a knife and took off with money from the register. Six customers were in the store at the time, but nobody was injured. Surveillance footage showing the young robber was shown on several programs, including Bureau Rijnmond and Opsporing Verzocht. Several viewers identified the robber as the 14-year-old Rotterdam boy and informed the police, He was arrested on Wednesday afternoon.
