Leiden shooting victim dies of injuries
A man who was seriously injured in a shooting in Leiden on Tuesday, passed away from his injuries, the police said on Thursday.
The man died in hospital on Thursday morning. He was gunned down on the corner of Rooseveltsraat and Gieterijstraat in Leiden at around 6:00 p.m. According to the police, the perpetrators wore balaclavas and likely fled on a scooter. The police believes that a black Volkswagen Caddy was also involved.
Panorama identifies the 50-year-old victim as Zeynel E.
The Turkish-born man survived an assassination attempt in an Amsterdam office building on Derkinderenstraat on November 11th last year. He was the director of the construction company situated in the building.
A few weeks earlier, Turkish former lawyer Haydar Zengin was shot and killed in the same building. It is believed that Zengin was the victim of mistaken identity and that E. was the intended target.
The police launched an investigation and spoke to numerous witnesses, but there are others they still want tot talk to. Specifically people who can give more information about the Volkswagen Caddy or have any video or photo footage that may be relevant.
