EasyJet pilots striking in Amsterdam tomorrow

The Amsterdam-based pilots and crew members of budget airline EasyJet will be striking on Tuesday, the association of Dutch pilots VNV announced, NU reports. "Despite frantic efforts to reach an acceptable first collective bargaining agreement for EasyJet pilots operating from Amsterdam, that has failed to date", the VNV said. The pilots will strike between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. According to VNV, the union and the airline can not agree on improvements to sick leave pay, the heavy workload and marginal employer contributions to pensions. In a response EasyJet said it regrets the strike. "We already made considerable progress to reach a collective bargaining agreement" the company said. "We would like to continue a constructive dialogue with them." The airline advises passengers to check the status of flights to and from Amsterdam online before leaving for the airport.
