U.S. hotel giant Marriott to build two Amsterdam hotels
American hotel giant Marriott will soon be building two hotels in Amsterdam's Houthavens - a branch of designer hotel Moxy and a Residence Inn, a so-called short stay hotel aimed at business travelers, Het Parool .
Moxy is a four-star design hotel which opened its first branch in Milan last year. According to broker Colliers, Moxy fits well with the creative environment of the Houthavens. There are currently five Moxy's in the world and another 40 are planned for the next two years. The Amsterdam branch will count 120 rooms and is set to open in the autumn of next year.
At the same time the Residence Inn will also open. This short-stay hotel will count 60 rooms and is aimed at business people looking for a place to stay for between a week and three months. The rooms are equipped with a kitchen and more space for working.
Both hotels will be located in one building overlooking the IJ. They will share facilities, a restaurant and a spa.
