One dead after train plows through car near Eindhoven
One person was killed when a train crashed into a car near Eindhoven on Thursday morning. The victim was the driver of the car, Omroep Brabant reports.
The accident happened around 10:30 a.m. at the railway crossing on Oostrikkerwerg in Sterksel. The car was completely destroyed, wreckage spread across the track.
The train came to a stop about 300 meters further up the track. No one in the crowded train was injured. Travelers were taken to Eindhoven station with another train.
The accident brought train traffic between Eindhoven and Weert to a standstill. Travelers should take delays of over an hour into account. Delays are expected to last until at least 2:30 p.m., according to the broadcaster.
