MP's shocked by report on poor police detective skills

Dutch parliamentarians are shocked by the critical report on detective skills and capabilities in the police, which was presented to them on Thursday. They call for immediate action to rectify the problem, NOS reports. "It seems to be even more serious than we thought", PvdA parliamentarian Ahmed Marcouch commented to NOS. "This must be better, this needs to be solved." He points out that the detectives are key to a proper investigation and that the police on the street can only function if detection is done properly. Marcouch is anxiously awaiting Justice Minister Ard van der Steur's response to the report. "We can not waste any more time. The only club benefiting from this, is the club of criminals." According to D66 parliamentarian Judith Swinkels, this "shocking" report makes it painfully clear "that the cutbacks of the government comes at the expense of the Netherlands safety".
