Airplane crashes into Schiphol lights

A cargo airplane crashed into the lights of a runway while taking off from Schiphol, according to a quarterly report by the Aviation Safety Board, the Telegraaf reports. The incident happened on January 18th. The crew did not even notice and kept flying. The plane landed safely at Stansted Airport in London an hour after takeoff. Only after landing did the crew notice damage to the hull and propeller of the plane - a twin engine Embraer 120. The Safety Board calls it a "serious incident" and is investigating. Earlier this year the Safety Board launched a “thematic investigation” into air traffic safety at and around Schiphol airport following a number of incidents at the Amsterdam airport. Last month the Safety Board criticized cooperation between the airport and Air Traffic Control, calling it "inadequate".
