Dutch concentration camp monument wins 2016 Museum Prize
National Monument Vught was awarded the Museum Prize for 2016 on Tuesday. The concentration camp monument won the 100 thousand euro cash prize with 37 percent of the votes, the organization announced.
This year's Museum Prize was awarded in the category War- and Resistance museums. A record number of 79.5 thousand people voted.
The other two nominees were the Resistance Museum in Amsterdam, which came in second place with 33 percent of the votes, and the National Military Museum in Soest, which got 29 percent of the votes.
The National Military Museum recently got an honorary mention for the most innovative museum in Europe.
