17 years in prison for fatal houseboat bombing
Milco G. was sentenced to 17 years in prison for causing a houseboat explosion in Wormer last year. A 53 year old man was killed and a woman was seriously injured.
The Public Prosecutor demanded a 10 year prison sentence and compulsory treatment, or a 20 year prison sentence. G. wasn't sentenced to psychiatric treatment because it could not be proven that he was suffering from a mental disorder on the day of the attack.
The bombing took place on April 13th last year. It turned out that G. bombed the wrong houseboat - his actual target was a man he claims abused his sister. No evidence of such abuse was ever found. G. told the court that he never wanted to hurt anyone, he just wanted to blow a hole in a houseboat to send his sister's abuser a message.
