Amsterdam taxi driver charged with attempted manslaughter for running over passenger

A 26 year old taxi driver was arrested on attempted manslaughter charges for intentionally running over his passenger. The incident happened on January 28th on the Rozengracht in Amsterdam. Victim Chantal and the taxi driver got into an argument because he refused to turn on the meter. The driver stopped the car and demanded she pay 40 euros, which she refused. Both got out of the taxi and a scuffle ensued. Chantal ended up on the ground. The driver got back into the taxi, ran over her legs and then drove off. According to AT5, the taxi driver voluntarily turned himself in on Monday.
