Amateur football club’s Cinderella wish dashed in Dutch Cup semi-final

And thus the fairy tale ends. VVSB will not be going through the the final of the KNVB Cup. The amateur football club lost 3-0 against FC Utrecht on Wednesday night. The amateur club held up well against FC Utrecht in the Galgenwaard stadium for 70 minutes, according to broadcaster NOS. Then there was an unfortunate incident when Peet van der Slot scored in their own goal. Two minutes later Sebastien Haller made the win for FC Utrecht official, scoring three times in a row. FC Utrecht captain Mark van der Maarel was very impressed with the VVSB players. "The guys did very well. They went all out. But at some point they could not keep it up and it became a little easier for us", he said to the broadcaster. FC Utrecht will play in the finals against either Feyenoord or AZ. "This is my first final. You dream of it as a kid", Van der Maarel said.
