Dead pigs found outside proposed asylum seeker center

Two dead pigs were discovered on a terrain of a planned asylum center on Hessenweg in Lunteren at around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, according to the police. Ede mayor Cees van der Knaap is shocked by the discovery, calling it "scandalous", Omroep Gelderland reports. The pig cadavers may be connected to a Pegida demonstration in Ede on Saturday. The terrain in Lunteren is one of five locations where the municipality of Ede plans to house between 600 and 1,400 asylum seekers. Pegida frontman Edwin Wagensveld was arrested at the demonstration wearing a pig's head hat. The police are investigating where the pig cadavers came from. A white van was seen near the terrain. The police would like to talk to whoever was in the van. This is not the first protest against asylum seekers in Lunteren. An online petition against the asylum center already has 2,600 signatures. Protesting against asylum centers with pig cadavers is becoming an increasingly common occurrence. In November 12 pig's heads were found scattered around the construction site of an asylum center in Enschede. And in January a piglet was lynched at the planned site for a center in Heesch.
