Dog walker rescues tiny terrier from frigid Amsterdam river

An Amsterdam dog walker jumped into the cold waters of the IJ river to rescue one of his charges. The man was walking eight dogs when one of them suddenly decided to jump into the icy water near the Silodam, an eyewitness told the police. The dog walker did not hesitate. He took off his clothes and plunged into the water. He managed to rescue the doggy and bring it back to the side. Bystanders called the emergency services. The man and dog was already out of the water when the firefighters arrived, a spokesperson said to the broadcaster. The dog walker was treated for hypothermia in an ambulance and was then taken to the hospital for observation. A bystander warmed up the dog in the police bus until an animal ambulance arrived. The dog is doing well, according to AT5. The police took the other seven dogs home.
