Mother claims she was delusional when she killed her kids

Apeldoorn woman Aurelie V. told the court in Zutphen on Tuesday that she was delusional when she killed her 8-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter in October 2013. Both kids were stabbed to death, NU reports. V. is accused of double murder for killing her two children. The Public Prosecutor believes that this is a case of premeditated murder, basing this on a suicide note found at the scene, and the fact that the house's doors were locked and curtains were closed. The 36-year old V. denies premeditation. "I acted like a robot. I did it, but did not think about it, I did it in a delusion", she said to the court. "I don't know what came over me that day." V. had trouble looking after her two children, especially her disabled son, for some time. The morning of the murder, a home care worker was at the house to help out with the son. She did not notice anything amiss. After the worker's departure, V. wrote a suicide note, closed the doors and curtains and killed her children. She then took pills in an attempt to commit suicide. Her mother called the police later the afternoon when she could not get into V.'s house. Officers forced the door opened. They found V. on the couch and the lifeless bodies of her two children elsewhere in the house. There were bandages on the daughter's body. V. doesn't know why she did that.
