Amsterdam train station evacuated on bomb threat prank
Police rushed to Amsterdam’s Central Station on Friday afternoon after a young man allegedly yelled out “Bomb!” and threw a bag onto customer service counter in a shop. He then ran off, local broadcaster AT5 reported.
When the youth returned to recover his bag, alert bystanders held him until officers arrived, police said on Twitter. A portion of the train station was evacuated during the investigation.
The incident happened before 1:45 p.m. with the train station reopened by 1:55 p.m. No dangerous items were found in the bag.
A motive is still undetermined, but witnesses said that the suspect was conducting a social experiment or a prank for a video. Similar videos have gone viral in recent months on Youtube, garnering millions of views. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAqgXhblr-w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciRrUYce0CEAmsterdam station has been cleared by police.
