Insanity: Online retailers expect record shopping day before Christmas

Last minute Christmas shopping is expected to result in an extremely busy day for Dutch online stores on Monday. Bol.com director Daniel Ropers expects Monday to be the busiest day in the history of online shopping in the Netherlands, he said in the Telegraaf. Ropers expects some 2 million people to visit Bol.com today and that his store will send out 350 thousand gifts by the end of Monday. Other stores like Coolblue and Wehkamp can also expect a busy day, Ropers said. "Just imagine all these people coming together in a shopping center." Online shopping experiences a major peak during holidays. With Sinterklaas this year nearly 1 billion euros was spent online. Though most people still shop for presents both online and in physical stores.
