Two hurt in Amsterdam shooting were targeted; police seek witnesses
The two men seriously injured in a shooting incident on Amstelveenseweg in Amsterdam on Friday night, were the victims of a targeted attack, the police believe. Any witnesses are asked to come forward.
The police received a report of several shots fired just outside the restaurant ScottaDio on Amstelveenseweg around 10:30 p.m. on Friday. At the scene the police found two severely injured men, aged 23 and 28 years old. Both men were taken to the hospital in critical condition. According to Het Parool, the men are of Albanian descent.
"It looks like the attack was aimed against the two men", a spokesperson for the police said to AD. Exactly what happened and how many perpetrators were involved remains unclear at this point.
The perpetrator or perpetrators fled on foot in the direction of Vondelpark. The police closed down the area and conducted an extensive investigation.
